Well, that's not quite right, but, if you're driving a small, ("Smart"-ish) car don't run into something larger... (Courtesy of the National Review Online)
...the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) ran a rather expensive series of tests in which it pitted a smaller vehicle against the next size larger vehicle from the same manufacturer. Specifically, they ran a Honda Fit into a Honda Accord,And the gov't is looking for this to just get
a Toyota Yaris into a Toyota Camry,
and a Mercedes C Class into a Smart Fortwo (owned by Mercedes).

Now let's imagine what happens when one of these gets hit by a Suburban.....one well-kept secret in safety tests is that "good" or "five star" means "vs. other cars of the same size."
It looks like the passenger cages more or less held, though. Even so, I'd love to see the accelerometer readings--that, along with the crushing as the steering wheel comes to meet the driver, is what kills you.
The dummy almost falls out of the Toyota Yaris and the heavier cars make their way into the driver's space of the lighter.
(Daddy wants a big Ford truck)
