Apparently you can carry a firearm in Minnesota schools...

But don't worry the liberal governmental and educational establishment is going to change that.

Apparently, according to an article in the Minnesota Star Tribune (h/t PowerlineBlog), a school principal has been safely carrying a concealed pistol at work with his bosses permission -- and it's all legal.

But, now that it's come out, the Governor and Education officials are going to try to make that change.

"I cannot even imagine a situation where we would consider giving people permission to carry guns in school," Richfield Schools Superintendent Robert Slotterback said. "You're not going to have a gun drawn. If they walk up to you, point a gun and fire, it doesn't matter if you have a gun in your pocket or not."
Because it's so hard to get a gun out of your pocket when your life is on the line...

I'm not looking forward to finding out how "Blue" Colorado has become in the near future.

Piss on Ed Asner!

Recently Ed Asner, the lovable, old, Leftist, crotchety actor from The Mary Tyler Moore Show and some other (obviously) forgettable TV series, did voicework on a bit for the California Federation of Teachers wherein they have "The Rich" peeing on "The Poor."

Here's the original link for your information (though the Golden Shower animation has been edited so that you can only hear it):

Here's a moderated, thoughtfully commented version for your edification:

Some thoughts about our tendency to complain...

In How Whining Grows Government, Frank Fleming demonstrates how complaining is counter-productive to the Conservative personality.

In the olden days, if someone was attacked by a mountain lion, he wouldn't just whine, "Eek! A vicious beast! Someone please take care of this for me!" No, he'd punch that mountain lion in the face like it was a common hippie and go back to chopping wood or digging a well or stealing land from the natives or whatever frontiersmen did. Because back then, people didn't complain about problems; instead they adhered to the wisdom of 20th century philosopher Vanilla Ice: "If there was a problem, yo, I'll solve it."
(Bonus points for old, white guy rap!  ;^)

If you lose your job, your house burns down, and you're surrounded by angry bears, and the government asks, "Do you need help?" you should answer, "Oh no. Minor setback. I'm fine. I saw some airports that need renaming, though. Why don't you get on that?"

"Birds of a feather..."

Yes, they do flock together.

"As a freshman at Columbia University in 1970, future Attorney General Eric Holder participated in a five-day occupation of an abandoned Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) headquarters with a group of black students..."

Gangnam Style is taking over...

I find myself liking the silly fun song and dance that is "Gangnam Style".
Here's a parody of it - Mitt Romney style (NSF W/Children)

I hope this doesn't offend my reader...

but it's kind of funny...

In case you missed it...

The video that "caused" all the recent Mohameddan/anti-American violence:

It's poorly produced, silly, and contains suggestive material.  I'd be offended if I were Muslim...

What would happen if you tried to hit a baseball pitched at 90% the speed of light?

(this is a hint)
The author of one of my favorite web comics, xkcd.com, takes a few minutes to hypothesize about what would happen if...

California designs a high-speed rail system

"Our business plan is predicated on having private operations after the initial system is built," [Dan] Richard [chairman of the rail authority board] said. "Turning the design of the system over to a private operator would have been a bad financial move for California taxpayers. SNCF's proposal was self-serving and not in the public interest."

California says that they know how to do it and don't need help from a world-class business that actually makes money in a country (France) that doesn't generally shy away from subsidizing businesses that can't make it on their own (Airbus and Minitel come to mind).

Hmmm...  What could possibly go wrong.

Directed Lightning Weapons!!

Very cool!

"If a laser beam is intense enough, its electro-magnetic field is strong enough to rip electrons off of air molecules, creating plasma ... The plasma channel conducts electricity way better than un-ionized air, so ... a high voltage source, the electrical energy will travel ...

You may want to register with this...

Granted that I'm not one of the most eager people to get on a list, but this one interests me.

This does not give me much hope... It's probably why I supported Michelle Bachmann, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum, just about anybody who wasn't Mitt (except Newt, who might as well be).
