Two more years?

We might have commercial LED-based lights in 2 years! So, quit buying CFLs and be patient! :^)

(Okay, maybe it will be 3 years... Or maybe WalMart will kill the researchers and buy the technology and put it on a shelf... There are, after all, 100mpg carburetors rusting away in warehouses in Detroit... *sigh* ;^)

I believe that LED lights are only half as efficient, though. (sigh)

Ah, but if you would read the article, you would have your beliefs disabused...

They are currently as efficient as CFLs, while being less toxic.

They can also be used in exotic things like sheet lighting.

I'm eager to get away from the poor quality CFLs that I was so eager to convert my house over to.

Hmmm... Makes me say "Hmmm..." Could there be a downside? Nah.

I'm currently of the opinion that the big push for CFLs by WalMart and others was due to the onrush of LEDs and the possibility that the investments in CFLs wouldn't be recouped by their promulgants.

So, the leftislators have banned Incandescents and here we are.

Hmmm....count me as intrinsically skeptical of blue sky announcements by university professors. :^)

And yes, there could be a downside; remember that one of the biggest concentrations of Superfund sites is Silicon Valley. Need I say more?

Yes, but these will be likely built in China...

Great, so the Chinese hordes invading us 20 years from now will all by 8' tall and have six arms and three heads..... ;^)
