An idea whose time has come!

(Ideas want to be anthropomorphised!)

It used to be that tailgating was considered rude, and putting such a sticker on one's window would multiply the offense. It's polite maybe in comparison to firing an RPG into the offending slowpoke, but not on any sane scale of manners.

Well, many things are relative, after all...

I'd buy the bigger aplique, so that I didn't have to tailgate. ;^)

Though I had the pleasure of doing a 95 mile one-way commute, I still never got in the habit of tail-gating. It was always easier to wait for a chance to go around the Lefty.

The best tactic, however, was to approach from the rear as the slower car came up to a chance to pull over - more often than not, they did.

Well, you're definitely doing better than the image presented at the "move over" website. I'll admit that when someone is rude enough to tailgate to the point where I cannot see their headlights in any of my rearview mirrors, I'm quite a bit slower to return to the right lane. I also reckon that if they did what's in that image, I'd dawdle even more.

Sounds like you need a little work on the stiffness of your neck. ;^) I just let them pass as soon as possible in the hopes that they might soak up the time of whatever highway patrol might otherwise be looking for me... ;^)

No, I more or less am just making darned sure that by moving over for a tailgater, I'm not causing trouble in the other lanes. The simple fact of the matter is that tailgating makes caution in going to the right even more necessary than otherwise.

Ah. I see. My apologies for thinking that you were being a bit rude in retaliation. You weren't entirely clear on the matter and I may have projected a bit. :^/

However, please feel free to get a neck-rub from MrsBB. Tell her that I said so...

You could reasonably argue that in my not being *eager* to move over, I'm being rude. On the other hand, it can be rude to be too eager to move over--do you go 20mph faster than you can safely drive and merge 20' in front of a semi just because some yahoo tailgates you with a (rude) decal on his car?

Methinks that if you need to make a choice, you make the choice to protect the safety of the non-rude, non-tailgating drivers on the road, right? (instead of the convenience of the rude tailgater)

I agree. (Comment continued back on your blog. ;^)
